Residents and their children are provided with several opportunities to attend support groups and other special activities throughout their stay. Advocates provide help with attaining goals, referrals to other agencies and services, and individual crisis support. Safe housing can provide a pathway to freedom, but there are many barriers that prevent survivors from obtaining or maintaining safe and affordable housing. ![]() ![]() Safe House Center provides three meals per day, toiletries, and other daily essentials such as diapers and laundry detergent.Įach resident is assigned to an advocate when they enter shelter. Systems advocacy is integral to DC SAFE’s mission and we strive to be an interrupter for survivors of domestic violence in the DC systems. There are several common areas in the shelter including the living room, kitchen/dining area, and the playroom. However, some stay longer depending on their individual situation.
